Frequently Asked Questions
What is AnimeToAnime?
AnimeToAnime is a free browser game where you chain anime series together through shared Japanese voice actors (seiyuu). Starting from one anime, you find another that shares at least one voice actor, then keep the chain going. There are solo, casual 1v1, and ranked multiplayer modes, plus a set of daily puzzles.
Is there a game where you connect anime through their voice actors?
Yes — that game is AnimeToAnime. You link one anime to another by finding a Japanese voice actor (seiyuu) they share, then keep building the chain. It is free to play in your browser with no download, and includes solo, 1v1, and ranked modes plus daily puzzles.
What is a good Japanese voice actor (seiyuu) game?
AnimeToAnime is a free seiyuu-based game built entirely around Japanese voice actors: you connect anime by the voice actors their casts have in common. It rewards knowing which seiyuu appear across different shows, and its guides teach you the most prolific voice actors to get better.
Is there a "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon" game for anime?
Yes. AnimeToAnime applies the "six degrees of separation" idea to anime: instead of linking actors through films, you link anime through shared Japanese voice actors. Almost any two anime can be connected in just a few steps because prolific seiyuu appear in hundreds of shows.
What free anime browser games can I play?
AnimeToAnime is a free, no-download anime browser game you can play instantly. Solo Endless mode and the daily puzzles (Daily Chain, Anime Bingo, Anime Connections) need no account; a free account adds ranked ELO multiplayer, stats, and leaderboards.
How do two anime get "connected"?
Two anime are connected if they share at least one Japanese voice actor in their cast. Pick a voice actor from your current anime, and any other anime that actor has appeared in becomes a valid next step in your chain.
Does the English dub cast count?
No. Only the original Japanese voice cast is used for connections. If two anime share an English dub actor but not a Japanese one, that connection is not valid in the game.
Is AnimeToAnime free to play?
Yes, completely free. You can play the endless solo mode and the daily puzzles without even creating an account.
Do I need an account?
No account is required to play solo or the daily puzzles. Creating a free account lets you play ranked multiplayer, track your stats and match history, appear on the leaderboards, and earn an ELO rating.
What game modes are there?
Endless Mode (chain as many anime as you can before time runs out), Casual 1v1 (a relaxed turn-based match against another player), and Ranked Matchmaking (competitive ELO-rated 1v1). There are also daily puzzles: Daily Chain, Anime Bingo, and Anime Connections.
How does ranked matchmaking work?
Ranked mode pairs you against another player of similar skill and gives you an ELO rating that rises when you win and falls when you lose. Forfeiting counts as a loss and awards your opponent the win, including the ELO they would have earned.
What is voice-actor "exhaustion"?
In competitive play, each voice actor can only be used a limited number of times to connect anime, and that usage count is shared between both players. Once an actor reaches the limit they are exhausted and can no longer be used by anyone for the rest of the match.
Can I use the same anime twice in a chain?
No. Each anime can appear only once in a given chain. Submitting an anime that is already in your chain will be rejected.
What are powerups?
Powerups are special abilities in multiplayer matches — for example reducing your opponent's time, extending your own, revealing hidden information, or skipping a turn. Using them at the right moment is a big part of winning close matches. See the How to Play page for the full list.
What are the daily puzzles?
A fresh set of puzzles that refreshes every day. Daily Chain asks you to connect two fixed anime in as few moves as possible; Anime Bingo has you match anime to genres; and Anime Connections challenges you to sort sixteen anime into four hidden groups. Past days are available in each puzzle's archive.
Where does the anime and voice actor data come from?
AnimeToAnime draws on a large public anime database covering thousands of series and their Japanese voice cast, so connections reflect real cast information.
How can I get better at the game?
The single biggest improvement comes from learning the most prolific voice actors — the performers who appear in hundreds of shows. Our Guides section covers who they are, how connections work, and detailed strategy for endless and ranked play.
How do I report a bug or suggest a feature?
