About AnimeToAnime
AnimeToAnime is a free browser-based trivia game for anime fans. Players chain anime series together by finding shared Japanese voice actors (seiyuu) between them. The game is inspired by the "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon" concept, applied to the world of anime voice acting.
How It Works
Each anime is voiced by a cast of Japanese voice actors. Two anime are "connected" if they share at least one voice actor in common. Your goal is to build the longest chain — or find the shortest path between two anime — using these shared voice-actor connections. Only the original Japanese cast counts; English dub actors do not create connections.
Why Voice Actors?
The Japanese voice acting industry is built on an apprenticeship system that produces performers with hundreds of credits across their careers. Because the same seiyuu reappear across wildly different series, almost any two anime can be linked through a shared cast member — which is exactly what makes the game work.
Game Modes
- Endless Mode — chain as many anime as possible before the timer runs out.
- Versus Mode — challenge a friend in real-time turn-based play.
- Ranked Matchmaking — auto-matched competitive play with ELO ratings and a global leaderboard.
- Daily Games — four daily puzzle modes refreshed every day.
Data
Anime and voice actor data is sourced from a large public anime database covering thousands of series and their Japanese cast members.
